The Market Town Vet is an independent veterinary practice based in the historic market town of Oswestry. With over 25 years’ experience, Principal Vet Rob Tulloch leads a close-knit and dedicated team who provide high-quality, compassionate care for pets across Shropshire.  

  

Establishing a firm foundation as a new business 


Established in 2020, ‘The Market Town Vet’ opened its doors during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, a particularly challenging time to start a new business. Drawing on Rob’s extensive knowledge and deep understanding of client needs, the team focused on reassurance, communication, and exceptional animal care from day one. 


This approach quickly earned the trust of local pet owners, helping the practice outperform its early forecasts and establish a loyal client base within its first year. 


Rob commented: “When I opened The Market Town Vet, the timing was difficult, but I knew that putting our clients and their pets first would get us through. By focusing on reassurance, understanding, and care, we were able to grow month by month, even in the middle of a pandemic.”

Building a partnership for growth 


From the outset, we have been a key partner in helping the company realise its ambitions. 


The relationship began with a single Hire Purchase agreement, giving Rob flexibility to manage early-stage costs while the firm found its footing. As demand grew, we continued to provide tailored solutions for essential new equipment and facility improvements, including ultrasound scanners, dental X-ray machines, and the fit-out of a second surgery to support further expansion.


In total, 11 funding agreements have helped the practice invest in new technology, modernise its facilities, and maintain a smooth cash flow, enabling the team to focus fully on delivering the best care for patients.

Today, the company operates from two sites in Shrewsbury and Oswestry, with a 3rd site on the way in Whitchurch (opening early 2026), with a growing team and a strong reputation for trusted, independent veterinary care.

This has provided not only access to essential funding but also peace of mind, allowing Rob and his team to stay focused on what they do best: caring for animals and their owners.
