Meet Rebecca Hodges, Broker Development Assistant covering the UK. Rebecca has been with the business since 2006. In this Q&A she tells us a little bit more about her role and herself.
Tell us about your role with Braemar Finance
As part of the broker team in Braemar Finance, I work closely with our existing brokers who source unsecured loans for their clients in the professions industry.
A key part of my role is to engage with our brokers as proposals come in, this helps us understand the potential deal and deliver an efficient service for both broker and end client.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
The most enjoyable part of my role is meeting new people and making connections. I am really looking forward to being able to get out and about and start seeing people face to face again. I also enjoy being part of a team who have common goals and want to see our business and those businesses we work with succeed over the long term.
Which three words would you use to describe yourself and why?
Supportive – I like to think I am available for people who need me both professionally and personally
Organised – who doesn’t love a list?
Open-minded – I like to try new things and listen to people who have new ideas and viewpoints.
Can you describe a professional achievement/highlight?
This year has been particularly testing for everyone, but my professional achievements have grown from my adaptability during these past 12 months. When the pandemic first hit it was important to pull together as a team and help our customers with payment holiday requests. Although not my regular day job, it gave me an opportunity to do what I like best, which is helping people and their businesses.
What are people unlikely to know about you?
During my early years at Close Brothers, and before I had children to occupy me, I set myself the challenge of learning something new every year. This spanned around five years, in that time I completed night courses in cake decorating, Beauty Therapy NVQ2, nail tech and completed an A-Level in geography.
I am now in the middle of completing a Diploma in Asset Finance and Banking with the LIBF, which is challenging and rewarding all at the same time.
When you’re not in work, what do you like to do?
Spending time with my family is the most important thing to me. We like to take our new pup Suki out for walks and discover outdoor spaces we’ve not been to before.
I am also a volunteer helper at our daughter’s gymnastics group, I have never been a gymnast before, so I am still learning about pointy toes and finishes!
But my perfect day would be a shopping trip with my daughters followed by a nice meal out with the family.
