Meet Malcolm Holmes, Business Development Manager, UK & Ireland. Malcolm has been with the business since August 2018. In this Q&A he tells us a little bit more about his role and himself.
Tell us about yourself and your role with Braemar Finance
I’m part of the Business Development Team here at Braemar Finance, working with Supplier Partners to provide tailored finance options and solutions for their businesses and customers, helping to achieve sales growth.
My previous experience includes heading up the financial services business for a global supply company, specialising in the dental and veterinary sectors. It’s great to be able to apply my knowledge and experience of these sectors to my current role.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I really enjoy meeting with and developing long-term relationships with counterparts at our supplier partners. I get a great sense of satisfaction from helping the supplier and their customers to achieve their goals by developing finance programmes.
Which three words would you use to describe yourself and why?
Adaptable - I’ve always been able to accept change and see this as an opportunity rather than an issue.
Reliable - I strive to be counted on as being reliable – being unreliable is one of my pet hates!
Resourceful - While I like the challenge of working remotely/independently, I will always call on other team members, and their experience, when required.
Can you describe a professional achievement/highlight?
I have two:
Deciding to hand in my notice from the security of a job/role that I had been working in for 15 years, and a company that I had been with for 25 years, with no future position lined up. This in turn resulted in the opportunity to join the Braemar Finance team, and a new successful chapter in my career.
I always relate back to this one, as it defined my career path - being appointed to my very first field sales role, despite the reservations of my National Sales Manager at the time. Then some nine months later, having my own convictions rewarded, by being presented with Top Newcomer of the Year and a year later with Sales Person of the Year.
What are people unlikely to know about you?
My Dad was a professional footballer with Norwich City Football Club – hence why I’m a lifelong supporter.
When you’re not in work, what do you like to do?
Spend time with the family, and grandchildren, playing golf (badly!), travelling and supporting NCFC.
